Description
Up for sale arefour pieces of advertising related to Pola Ice Cream Stands, Manchester, New Hampshire. It appears the ice cream company had some kind of connection to WMUR radio to allow listeners to win stamps, bonds, and ice cream by matching their "Play Pola" numbered tickets with numbers drawn on the radio.
At any rate, what we have here are
three different items
. One is a
Pola Advertising Coupon
, good for whatever was written on this blank space. Pola advertised
Genest's Bakery Products and Foster's Skinless Frankforts,
so it's apparent Pola sold hot dogs and hamburgers (for 10 cents each!), along with the ice cream. In the first scan you can see these
ten tickets that could make you a Pola winner
, if you tuned into WMUR 610 at 8:15PM every Monday and Friday. The third item is actually two of the same--2 blank Play Pola Winner cards, which also advertised
S & R Cakes,
to serve, of course, with Pola Ice Cream.
I'm not sure if these items are from the 1940's or 1950's. The 10-cent cost of dogs and burgers would seem to make it 1940's, plus the bonds you could win might be war bonds. You be the judge! And please let me know if you can date these items more accurately than I can.
The Pola Advertising Coupon measures about 3 x 4", very good condition, shows some aging (along with Pola's Ice Cream Stand locations), but not torn, all complete. The two Play Pola winner forms each measure about 3 1/2 x 6", very good to excellent condition. The Play Pola tickets are all attached to one another and measure about 6 x 7 1/2", folded, but all complete, very good condition. ALL FOUR PIECES FOR ONE PRICE!
If you're a Manchester or ice cream collector, these items would be nice additions to your collection!
