I can't be certain who produced it, or what they originally named it - this lovely 3.2 Ounce Braid of hand dyed wool was
stored
without that information included in my smoke free, cat-friendly crafting storage room. But this gorgeous fiber roving, dyed in progressive shades of Dark Teal, Peacock Blue, Emerald, Amethyst, Garnet and Onyx definitely lives up to to the name I've given it -

I don't know what breed of sheep this wool came from, but it's pretty soft so if you plan to knit your finished yarn, it would work well in scarves, purses, or as I intended, afghans. I was planning on spinning up
Gemstone Wheel
as a bright, textured multi-colored yarn to knit up an afghan project. Sadly, that particular afghan was never made, so it's time to pass this beautiful roving to someone who will use it in a special project of their own!
In my spinning, I'm often frustrated by not having enough of a color for an entire project, so I buy up lots of roving
at
the start to make sure I'll have enough. . . and of course, then I have too much at the end of the project.
So
I'm
listing this and other Hand Dyed fibers on Ebay to see if there are other spinners who would like to take advantage of
my windfall.  These have all be
en kept carefully stored in my smoke-free, pet-friendly home studio, and are in pristine
condition.
