    Description

An incredibly interesting autographed and significantly inscribed autobiography of Eddie Eagan, titled “Fighting For Fun” in which this notable athlete who is the ONLY person to win a GOLD MEDAL at both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games in different disciplines (Boxing and Bobsledding) signed and inscribed “To Mr. & Mrs. John Considine With best wishes Eddie Eagan,” and significantly dating his signing in his hand from the 1932 Summer Olympics, adding “Aug. 6, 1932, Los Angeles California,” in black fountain pen. John Considine is believed to be Los Angeles film producer (Puttin’ on the Ritz, 1930; Boys Town 1938) and brother of famed journalist and author Bob Considine noted as author of “Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo” and “The Babe Ruth Story.”
Beautifully signed on the inside page leave, Eddie Eagan (1897-1967) was an alumnus of Yale University, Harvard University and the University of Oxford. In the Olympics Eagan won the Boxing Gold Medal in the light-heavyweight division in the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp, and eight years later won a Gold Medal in the 1932 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid competing with the bobsled team of Billy Fiske. Eagan was admitted to the US Law Bar in 1932. In WWII he reached the rank of Colonel and earned numerous decorations. Eagan also set a World Record for the fastest circumnavigation of the globe by scheduled airlines on December 13, 1948, traveling 20,559 miles – stopping at 18 different stations and beating the previous record by 20 hours and 15 minutes.
I don’t think there could be a more interesting Eagan signed book than this or at least one so pertinent to his athletic career attending the Olympics of which he was so obviously fond of.
