This warm and cozy hat is hand crafted in Fair Oaks in the USA with love. It is hand crafted of gorgous textured multi-tonal yarn with light grey and off-white accented by medium grey texture strands. Each is a unique work of art that takes several hours to make.
I learned the art of crochet and embroidery during the long cold winters while visiting my Oma (grandmother) in Germany. We would knit, crochet and craft for hours and share stories over coffee, tea and homemade cakes. In the USA, while the winters are not as cold and long, I rekindled my love of handcrafting items crocheting and knitting with my mother and family after a serious injury from a car accident. My items are handcrafted in the rustic Sierra Nevada mountains and high desert in beautiful Nevada and gorgeous oak covered foothills of No. California. Our handcrafted items have been displayed and sold in various fairs and Christmas holiday markets (Christkindlmarkt) in the west. Each item comes with a small card about the handcrafted work of art: "Handcrafted with love in the USA".*

Oma, grandmother told me of a woman walking in ragged shoes with holes as they fled the communists westward. My dad, a little boy of 8 at the time and the other children even younger were in tow on a sled through the forest. She gave the woman a pair of shoes. They traded jewelry for food along the way, sometimes foraging for food from abandoned orchards and farms along the perilous journey. When I think I have it tough, I remember my grandmother and family am am grateful to be in such a beautiful place as the US with abundant food. We have so much to be grateful for! Not the least my sweet rescue dogs and the former feral cat that is keeping my lap warm. As a way of giving back, I donate a part of each sale of hand made items to various charities that promote human and animal welfare.
