    Offered is a well designed and very hard to find cast iron Alfred Suter manual hand cranked table top yarn wider with an approximate 14 3/4" diameter wheel. It has a tag on the base that reads Alfred Suter Co. Inc., Prel Plaza, Orangeburg, NY 10962 Approved Testers. There is also additional information embossed on the iron gear (please see last two photos).
    There is a bell to indicate when the proper number of revolutions has occurred for your wind. I estimate this winder dates to the 1940's/early 50's. The machine weighs approx. 37 pds.
    This quality made yarn winder works well. The winding mechanism runs smoothly and there does not appear to be any damage to the machine. The bell to indicate the revolutions has not been tested. The wrinkle gray paint finish on the iron has the expected age-related wear, but no significant oxidation.
