Description
I DO NOT ACCEPT OFFERS ON MY ITEMS. THIS INCLUDES ASKING ME FOR MY “BEST PRICE”.COLLECTION: Spring 1991 "Adam & Eve, Modern Day Rastafarians"
MATERIAL: The fabric content label was removed, but if I remember correctly it's mostly viscose (hard to remember since I bought it 30 years ago...)
SIZE: 50 (US 40R)
MEASUREMENTS:
Chest (armpit to armpit across the front laid flat then doubled): 45"
Shoulders (straight across from seam to seam): 19 1/4" (shoulder seams are set wider than usual)
Sleeve (from top at shoulder seam to cuff): 23 3/4" (shoulder seams are wide set)
Length from top to bottom (not including collar): 23"
CONDITION: Good vintage condition. There is one tiny thread pull in the yellow outer loop threading and one tiny point where one of the yellow outer diamond loops has come loose (Photo #3, but these are so hard to notice that it's hard to tell where these two points are in the photo, but the yellow threading is the third diamond down from the top in the second row on the left side of the brown inner diamond, and the loose loop is the fifth diamond down from the top in the second row to the right of the black inner diamond). Overall the jacket is in great condition, with the back and the embroidery on the back being in excellent condition. The only other issues besides the super tiny thread flaws on the front are areas of faint discoloration (reddening) of the green outer fabric. I'm not sure if this is due to the color of the lining or how this happened, but all areas of this area very faint and hard to notice unless you look closely. There is some wear to the inside of the collar (Photo #10). This was difficult to photograph since the discoloration isn't major; and the inner collar wear does not show from the outside when worn of course. There is also some extremely faint discoloration along the shoulders (Photo #11), which is from being on a hanger for decades. This was also hard to capture because it is so faint, but I mention everything I notice on the items I sell. There is some faint spotting on the bottom of the sleeves near the cuffs, more so on the left sleeve (Photo #12) but very faint on both sleeves so it's not noticeable unless you know it's there and to look for it. There is also some discoloration around the edge of the cuffs; and this is the most noticeable area of reddening to the green fabric although it's still very faint. Fortunately due to the coloring of the green fabric these areas are not at all noticeable.
DESCRIPTION: The Spring 1991 Gaultier collection had Adam and Eve as Rastafarians in the Garden of Eden as its theme. A lot of the men's collection was shown in the women's runway show as most of the models were coupled up, so I included a screenshot of this jacket. I checked my runway photos from the men's show and there wasn't one of this jacket, but there was a solid blue jacket without the embroidery that has the exact same silhouette (I reached the 12 photo limit so I didn't include it in the listing, but if you want to see that runway photo of the blue version I can send it to you). The jacket is an olive-tinted army green color. The cut has long sleeves and a slightly cropped body (you can see from the runway screenshot that the sleeves are longer than the body, unlike standard jacket cuts); and despite the larger measurements the jacket actually fits close to the body with its baggy shape (I wear a 36R these fays and this still fits fine and doesn't look like a tent on me). The front has an embroidered pattern of diamonds with yellow-thread diamond loops on each side of the colored inner larger diamond. There is a silver thin zipper down the front, and cinch ties sewn into the interior of the hem. Two front slit pockets that are still sewn shut (after all these years). The back has an embroidered globe with the flags of various countries pinned to it (which is a modification of the Fall 1988 campaign ad that had a bald male model's head with pins sticking out of it). "J.P.G." is embroidered in black below the globe. Signature Gaultier loop on the back below the collar. I can't believe it's been 30 years since I bought this jacket.
* Everything I list is from my personal collection, and I guarantee that all
items are authentic. All items are from a completely smoke-free environment.
* I try to be as accurate as possible with the shipping costs based on the USPS website. If the
shipping costs are more than what you were charged then I always cover the difference. If the actual
shipping costs are less than what you paid I will refund the difference if it's or more.
* The size, measurements, and condition are all listed above. If you require any further measurements
I am more than happy to provide them,
but do not ask me if this item will fit you because I don’t know
. This
includes sending me your height and weight, or telling me you wear size X in another designer. I'm not psychic.
You are responsible for knowing your own measurements or measuring a comparable item of clothing you own.
* I apologize that I don't have a mannequin form or a professional photo studio for photographing these items.
I do the best I can with my phone camera and my subpar photography skills. I try to include runway photos
whenever possible to show you the piece in a professionally-photographed setting. I do my best to describe details
and fabrics. I try to list items from the buyer's perspective, and include things that I would want to know if I were looking
at the item to buy it. I've been on eBay for 22 years and I have 100% positive feedback, so please be reassured that I'm
selling quality items that don't have any sort of defects or signs of wear unless it's stated in the listing (and I always mention
anything I notice, no matter how small). I want these pieces to go to good homes, and I try to be the best seller possible,
right down to carefully packaging items for mailing. I don't like it when a seller just throws something in a box either.
Thanks for looking!!!
